Washed down from the hills of Malibu after some unknown wildfire, this singed “cliff face” reaches and swirls as though it were itself a fire frozen in time. Such a dynamic, dangerous perch would seem an ill-advised setting for a solitary cottage, but who hasn’t made a poor choice or two or three?
